In an effort to raise awareness about marine conservation, the Falmouth Marine Conservation group is set to host a series of educational talks and craft workshops at Trebah Garden this February half term. The event aims to highlight the significance of marine environments and foster a deeper understanding of local marine wildlife among attendees.

Scheduled from February 10th to 18th, the event will feature a variety of sessions, including “Living in Harmony with Seals and Seagulls,” “Cornish Marine Wildlife,” “The Cetaceans of Cornwall,” and “An Introduction to the Cetacean Acoustic Trend Tracking Project.” These talks and workshops are designed to provide insights into the diverse marine life found in Cornwall and the importance of living in harmony with these creatures.

In addition to the educational sessions, the event will also offer a “Sealife Safari Trail.” Participants will have the opportunity to explore Trebah Garden while following trail pictures that reveal fascinating facts about the crustaceans and other creatures that inhabit the sea. The trail aims to engage participants of all ages in learning about marine life in an interactive and enjoyable way.

The trail is available to all visitors for a nominal fee of £2 per person. Upon successfully locating all the trail pictures and learning about the featured marine creatures, participants are invited to return to the Entrance Desk by 4pm to collect a prize, adding an element of fun and reward to the educational experience.

The Falmouth Marine Conservation group’s February half term takeover at Trebah Garden represents a significant effort to engage the community in marine conservation efforts. Through this event, the group hopes to inspire a greater appreciation for the marine environment and the vital role it plays in our ecosystem.
