Cornwall Reptile & Amphibian Group Launches 4th Annual Photography Competition

Published On: 5 March 2024Last Updated: 5 March 2024By

The Cornwall Reptile & Amphibian Group (CRAG) has launched its 4th annual photography competition, inviting residents of Cornwall to showcase their talent by capturing images of native reptiles and amphibians.

This year’s competition, which spans from March 5th to November 1st, is open to photographers of all ages, with the aim of involving the entire community in wildlife conservation and appreciation.

CRAG’s photography competition is divided into three categories to accommodate participants from various age groups: Junior, for individuals up to 14 years old; Student, for those aged 15 to 21; and Adult, for participants who are 21 years and older. This categorisation ensures that photographers from different stages of life can participate and compete on an even playing field.

The competition does not adhere to a specific theme, allowing entrants the freedom to explore their creativity while focusing on the indigenous reptile and amphibian populations of Cornwall. This open-ended approach is intended to encourage a broad spectrum of entries, highlighting the diversity and beauty of Cornwall’s native species.

Participation in the competition is free, and CRAG has announced that prizes will be awarded for the best submissions. While the competition has a few rules, which can be found detailed on CRAG’s promotional poster, the primary goal is to celebrate the natural heritage of Cornwall through the lens of its residents.

With entries welcomed from March to November, the competition provides ample opportunity for both amateur and seasoned photographers to engage with the natural world around them, potentially capturing compelling images that contribute to the conservation and appreciation of Cornwall’s unique reptile and amphibian populations.
