After days of Met Office alerts, Cornwall is finally getting a break, with no weather warnings issued for the next few days. While conditions remain changeable, today’s forecast brings a mix of sunny spells, cloud, and some rain in southern areas, with temperatures reaching 8°C. Full details below.

South West England weather forecast

Headline:

Rain and brisk winds in the south. Brighter further north.

Today:

Mostly fine at first with bright or sunny spells, and remaining largely dry in the north, albeit with more in the way of cloud developing. Meanwhile, thicker cloud and rain spreading eastwards across more southern parts, accompanied by strengthening winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud and rain clearing eastwards from southern parts this evening. Largely dry, though breezy overnight with clear spells leading to a slight frost. The odd shower in the far west. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday:

A cold and frosty start with any mist patches clearing, followed by plenty of sunny spells. Feeling slightly chillier despite the less breezy conditions. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloudier on Thursday night with rain pushing southeastwards, clearing to sunny spells during the day. Often murky over the weekend with patchy rain and drizzle and briefly turning breezier.
