Published On: 13 May 2024Last Updated: 13 May 2024By

The MET Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning for rain, effective from 08:00 today until 23:59.

The warning highlights the likelihood of heavy rain causing significant disruptions and potential flooding in various parts of the region.

Residents and commuters are advised to brace for adverse conditions throughout the day. The heavy rain is expected to lead to several transport disruptions and could cause flooding in a few homes and businesses.

Key Points to Note:

  1. Potential Flooding:
    • A few homes and businesses may experience flooding. Residents in low-lying areas or those with properties prone to flooding should take necessary precautions.
  2. Transport Disruptions:
    • Roads are likely to be affected by spray and flooding, potentially making journey times longer. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for travel.
    • Bus and train services are expected to be disrupted, with longer journey times probable. Commuters should check for updates from their service providers and plan accordingly.

The MET Office advises that these conditions could lead to challenging driving conditions and urges people to stay informed through weather updates and alerts. Emergency services and local councils are on standby to assist those affected by the severe weather.

This weather warning serves as a reminder of the potential impact of severe weather and the importance of being prepared. Stay safe and take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your property.
