New Collection Schedule to Begin in North East Cornwall This November

Starting this November, residents across North East Cornwall, including areas such as Bodmin, Bude, Launceston, Padstow, Wadebridge, Camelford, Kilkhampton, and their surrounding areas, will experience changes to their waste collection schedules. Cornwall Council is rolling out a new system that will see food waste collected on a weekly basis, while general rubbish collections will shift to a fortnightly schedule.

What You Need to Know About the New Bins

As part of these changes, residents will soon receive new waste management tools to help them adapt to the updated schedule. Households can expect to receive:

  • A wheelie bin or a reusable protective sack for rubbish
  • A silver kitchen food waste caddy
  • A green outdoor collection caddy

In addition to the new equipment, a leaflet will be provided with detailed instructions on how to use the new bins and how to recycle food waste effectively. These tools are designed to make it easier for residents to separate food waste from general rubbish, ensuring that it is recycled properly.

Recycling Collection to Remain the Same

While the new system will alter the frequency of food waste and rubbish collections, the current recycling collection routine will continue unchanged. Residents should continue to use their red, blue, and orange bags and black box for recycling, which will still be collected on a fortnightly basis.

What’s Next for North East Cornwall Residents?

As the rollout progresses, Cornwall Council will continue to inform residents about the new collection system. The introduction of these changes reflects the council’s effort to enhance waste management practices across the region, with a focus on increasing recycling rates and reducing landfill waste.

For residents in North East Cornwall, the new collection schedule offers a straightforward way to contribute to environmental sustainability while managing household waste more effectively.
