Are Your Bins Ready for Cornwall’s New Waste Collection Service?

Published On: 11 May 2024Last Updated: 11 May 2024By

Residents of Cornwall are advised to prepare for the rollout of the new food waste, rubbish, and recycling collection service by clearly labelling their bins with their house name or number.

New Service, New Rules

Cornwall Council has issued guidance ahead of the new waste collection service, which will be implemented area by area. Households are instructed to use a marker pen or stickers to add their house name or number to their outdoor food bin and wheelie bin or protective sack. This measure aims to ensure that bins are easily identifiable and returned to the correct address after collection.

Additional Bins and Sacks

For residents who receive an additional bin or sack as part of the new service, it is important to leave the ‘extra rubbish’ sticker or tag attached. These identifiers are crucial for the proper sorting and handling of waste materials, facilitating an efficient recycling and disposal process.

Cornwall Council’s new system is part of ongoing efforts to improve waste management and recycling in the region. Residents are encouraged to comply with the new guidelines to ensure a smooth transition to the enhanced service.
