Truro Remembers: Join the City in Honouring Our Heroes This November
A City United in Remembrance
Truro City Council, in partnership with the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion and Truro Cathedral, is hosting a series of events this November to mark Remembrance. These moments of reflection and tribute will commemorate those who gave their lives in service to the nation, with multiple opportunities for the public to participate.
Blessing of the Garden of Remembrance
The Blessing of the Garden of Remembrance is set to take place on Sunday, 3rd November at 11:45am on the lawn at the east end of Truro Cathedral. This serene space, created and maintained by the Royal British Legion, provides a place for the public to honour those lost in conflict.

Armistice Day Tribute
On Monday, 11th November, Truro will mark Armistice Day with a two-minute silence at 11:00am at the War Memorial in Boscawen Street. The Mayor, Cllr Carol Swain, will join military personnel and other local dignitaries earlier in the day to dispatch a wreath on the first London-bound train for the “Poppies to Paddington” tribute, which began in 2020 as a response to pandemic restrictions.
Cllr Carol Swain reflected on these events, stating, “The November Remembrance events are an opportunity for us all to remember the many people who have given their lives in the service of our country, and to honour their bravery and sacrifice. I feel very privileged to be able to represent the people of Truro and the City’s Councillors and staff on these important occasions and hope that as many people as possible will also take the opportunity to attend.”
Barry Cooper, Chair of the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion, added, “The Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion has been actively working with Truro City Council and Truro Cathedral to plan and deliver these events.”
