Running on Empty: Why Truro Foodbank Desperately Needs Your Help

Published On: 31 March 2025Last Updated: 31 March 2025By

Emergency Appeal After Weekend Shortages

Truro Foodbank is calling on the local community for urgent support after revealing that its stock of essential items is now critically low. In a Facebook post published on Saturday, the charity warned that “what comes in one day goes out the same day”, highlighting the increasing demand for emergency food support in the Truro area.

Now, as the week begins, the need remains just as urgent.

Minimal Reserves, Maximum Demand

Shoppers are being asked to consider donating an item or two to the collection bins located in Truro supermarkets. The foodbank’s supplies of key items are described as “minimal or non-existent”, as they continue to respond to growing numbers of people facing food crises.

Truro Foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust network, reminded supporters on Saturday:

“💔💔 We urgently need your help. Our reserves of certain things are minimal or non-existent. What comes in one day goes out the same day.
When you are shopping this weekend, if you are able, please please drop an item or two into the collection bins in the Truro supermarkets listed below. 💚💚”

Where and When to Get Support

All distribution sessions now take place at:

Unit 15b, Threemilestone Industrial Estate,

The foodbank emphasises that anyone can reach crisis point, and that their services are available without judgement:

“These are unprecedented times so please do not think there is any stigma or judging involved. We are simply here to help people who are in food crisis.”

More Than Just Food

In addition to providing essential food parcels, Truro Foodbank also offers practical support. Advisors from various agencies are available during the Wednesday and Friday morning distribution sessions to assist with other challenges people might be facing.
