Over 15 Jobs To Be Created As New Poundstretcher Store Set To Open In Truro
Poundstretcher is set to reopen in Truro later this month, bringing more than 15 new jobs to the city alongside a special giveaway for early customers.
New Store Opening on Pydar Street
The discount retailer, which was previously based at Threemilestone Retail Park, has taken over the former Next store on Pydar Street. The new store will officially open its doors at 9am on Thursday, 20th March, with the Mayor of Truro, Carol Swain, cutting the ribbon.
Job Creation and Local Employment
In preparation for the opening, Poundstretcher has created over 15 full and part-time jobs, with some positions being filled by staff who previously worked at the retailer’s former Truro location. The new store brings Poundstretcher’s presence in Cornwall to four locations, employing more than 50 people across the county.

The 5,000-square-foot store will stock a broad range of discounted goods, including:

- Pet Hut – a dedicated section for pet products
Grand Opening Offers and Free Giveaways
To celebrate its return, Poundstretcher will be offering free goody bags to the first 100 customers through the doors on opening day, alongside entertainment for shoppers.

Poundstretcher’s Recent Expansion
Since being acquired by Fortress Investment Group in April 2024, Poundstretcher has introduced a number of changes across its stores. The company, which also owns Majestic Wine, Vagabond Wines, and Punch Pubs Group, has permanently lowered prices on over 1,500 products and introduced more than 500 branded items, including Astonish, Cadbury, Coca-Cola, Fabulosa, Felix, Listerine, Pedigree, Radox, and Surf.
The company has also rolled out a selection of 99p Super Deals, offering significant savings on everyday essentials.
With new jobs created and a range of products at competitive prices, the reopening of Poundstretcher in Truro is set to benefit both shoppers and job seekers alike.
