Operation: Mince Pie! Returns to Truro – Cornwall’s Favourite Festive Escape Room is Back!
The festive season is in full swing, and Cornwall’s much-loved Christmas escape room, Operation: Mince Pie! is back for its third year, running from 15th November 2024 until 5th January 2025. Hosted by Enigma Escape Cornwall in Truro, this 1940s wartime-themed puzzle room has already proven to be the most popular yet, with over 80 bookings made so far.
If you’re looking for a unique and immersive festive activity, now’s the time to grab your slot before they’re gone!
A Wartime Christmas Adventure
Set in an authentic Anderson Air Raid shelter, Operation: Mince Pie! transports participants to Christmas Eve 1942. Players gather with friends in the local bomb shelter, tired of wartime woes like rationing and cold weather. The Home Guard has secured a rare treat—mince pies—but there’s a catch. Before enjoying the pies, you must solve 12 festive-themed puzzles within 60 minutes to prevent them from burning in the oven!
Using hand-crafted props, puzzles, and a 1940s-inspired setting, this escape room challenges groups of 2–6 players, aged 8 and above (with adult supervision), to test their wits while enjoying a taste of Christmas nostalgia. And yes—victorious teams get to savour their hard-earned mince pies at the end!
A Growing Cornwall Escape Room Scene
Located in a hidden basement under an 18th-century townhouse on Lemon Street, Truro, Enigma Escape Cornwall is the creation of Oli Eastwood-Wright, a Cornwall escape room veteran with over seven years of experience in game design and room building.
Since purchasing and rebranding the site in September 2023, Oli has transformed the venue, introducing fully original experiences built in-house, each steeped in wartime authenticity. In just 14 months, over 1,000 teams have visited, with Enigma also participating in local events with their mobile puzzle boxes.
