A Heartfelt Evening for Christian Aid’s Christmas Appeal

Cornish singer Molly Hocking and the Falmouth Gospel Choir delivered a captivating performance at Truro Cathedral during this year’s Truro Big Sing. The packed event raised more than £800 for Christian Aid’s Christmas Appeal, which focuses on supporting people in places like South Sudan, where conflict has forced many to seek safety.

Molly Hocking Brings Festive Cheer

Molly, from St Ives, rose to fame after winning the 2019 season of The Voice UK. Now 24, she is working as an independent artist, with her latest single, You Can’t Hold Me Down, released in June. Molly performed a selection of festive favourites, enchanting the audience gathered in the historic cathedral.

Falmouth Gospel Choir Lifts Spirits

Joining Molly were the singers of the Falmouth Gospel Choir, whose spirited renditions throughout the evening culminated in a moving performance of The Blessing. The choir’s heartfelt contribution added to the uplifting atmosphere of the event.

Supporting Vulnerable Communities

Jenny Kwee, from Truro Christian Aid Group, celebrated the success of the evening, saying: “We raised almost £850 and we’re extremely grateful to Molly and the Falmouth Gospel Choir who gave us such beautiful performances, and also to Bishop Hugh Nelson, The Bishop of St Germans & Acting Diocesan Bishop, for his wonderful sermon.”

Co-organiser Sue Pettit added: “The Big Sing is such a joyous way to celebrate Christmas and raise funds to help people in vulnerable communities living with conflict around the world.”

Funds raised will support organisations such as the Smile Again Africa Development Organisation, which provides crucial aid to those who have been displaced by conflict.
