Oddfellows Celebrate Community and Support in Truro Gathering

Local Oddfellows members enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon during their September ‘Friendship Month’ gathering in Truro. The event took place in the upstairs function room of the Central Bar on Saint Mary’s Street, bringing together members for an afternoon of activities and community spirit.

A Range of Support Services

The event kicked off with a short presentation by the local Oddfellows welfare representative, who highlighted the various types of support available to members. This includes assistance with dental and optical costs, convalescent and emergency financial grants, and access to a bespoke Citizens Advice phone line and legal service. The presentation also covered the practical help members can access if they find themselves in need.

Quizzes, Prizes, and Fundraising

Following the presentation, a lively prize quiz was held, with winners receiving ‘lucky dip’ prizes wrapped in gift paper. The afternoon continued with a prize raffle featuring items crafted by members. Proceeds from the raffle were donated to a special charitable fund that supports both local and wider causes.

Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed a friendly chat over teas, coffees, and a selection of chocolate biscuits, fruit, and sweets. Members also received popular quiz sheets and photographs from a recent gathering to take home.
