Don’t Miss: Great Cornish Seafood Weekend Comes to Truro!
The Great Cornish Food Store in Truro is gearing up for a seafood-packed extravaganza on the weekend of 26th and 27th October 2024. The Great Cornish Seafood Weekend promises to be a half-term highlight, with activities for all ages celebrating Cornwall’s fishing industry.
What’s On: Seafood, Music, and Fun for All
From 8 AM to 6 PM on both days, the store will be transformed with a seafood bar, live music, and a range of activities. Adults can enjoy live cookery demonstrations from some of Cornwall’s top chefs, cocktail masterclasses, and even wine tasting. Meanwhile, kids can get stuck into live rock pooling and fishy face painting, making it a great event for families.
Confirmed chefs include Pete Murt, head chef at Rick Stein’s The Seafood Restaurant, and Stephane Delourme, former group chef for Rick Stein Restaurants. The demos will showcase how to shuck and cook oysters with a range of flavours, while acclaimed fishmonger Annie Seabourne will demonstrate the art of preparing crab.
Seafood lovers will also have the chance to learn from Jeffrey Robinson, one of the first chefs to receive a Green Michelin Star, who will share his expertise on provenance and sustainability.
Book Your Place
The event is free, but space is limited, so make sure to book your sessions here. From cookery demos to wine tasting, the weekend promises to be a treat for the senses.
Entertainment and Activities
Visitors will also enjoy folk music and sea shanties from Falmouth singer Toby Webb, alongside the fiddle and double bass duo Months Advance. The fun continues outdoors, where The Rock Pool Project will be leading mobile rock pooling sessions for children.
The weekend-long event will also feature the Cornwall Wildlife Trust sharing their Good Seafood Guide, an essential resource for those looking to make sustainable seafood choices.
