Dangerous Drivers Caught in Truro Police Crackdown – Could You Be Next?
Targeted patrols across Truro, Tregony and Perranporth
Police have arrested several drivers and issued multiple penalties after a day of road safety action across Truro, Tregony and Perranporth.
The operation took place on Friday 30th May and involved officers from the Truro Neighbourhood Police team, the No Excuses Traffic team and the Neighbourhood Support team. They used both marked and unmarked cars to target careless driving and antisocial vehicle use.
It followed reports from the public about antisocial use of motorcycles in Hendra, and complaints about noisy or reckless car drivers in Malpas, Newham and Threemilestone.
Three arrests, multiple offences uncovered
During the crackdown, officers pulled over drivers for roadside checks, including breath tests and drug swipes. This led to:
-
Two arrests for drink driving
-
One arrest for driving while disqualified
-
Three drivers caught without insurance
-
One driver caught speeding
Those involved will now face penalties including fines, points on their licence, or being sent on speed awareness courses.
“No excuse for taking risks when driving”
Police Sergeant Dave Pearce, who supported the operation, said:
“We know that dangerous driving is a concern for our communities, especially because of how busy the roads can get throughout the summer months.
“Carrying out activity like this key in tackling careless driving and those who drive without any consideration for the safety of other road users.
“I’d like to reassure people who live, work or plan to holiday in Cornwall, that our officers will continue to be on the roads as we head into summer. We will be working to keep you safe and remove dangerous drivers from the roads.
“There is no excuse for committing these offences and taking risks when driving. Your choices can have huge consequences – please always consider the safety of others.”
