Cornwall’s Agile Communications Gains Gold Standard Accreditation for Four-Day Week
Agile Communications Agency, a Truro-based firm, has been awarded the gold standard accreditation for its implementation of a four-day working week.
This milestone comes as part of the national 4 Day Week Campaign, which promotes a 32-hour working week with no reduction in pay.
Pioneering Work Culture
Rachel Foster, the founder and director of Agile Communications, has been a proponent of the four-day week for nearly 14 years. Rachel established the agency with the aim of balancing professional commitments with personal life.
“I have been working a four-day week for almost 14 years. When I set up Agile, I wanted to be sure I could build a business around raising my family and other commitments,” Rachel explained. “When I started to grow the team, I wanted to build a business differently. Our clients work with us for our creativity, strategic thinking and problem-solving. It’s important to me that we can bring our best selves to work, and that is about balance.”
The Agile Approach
Agile Communications has effectively managed a 30-hour week by regularly reviewing capacity, profitability, and productivity. Rachel emphasised the importance of employing agile ways of working to deliver value, rather than focusing on the amount of time spent at work.
Employee Satisfaction
The agency’s first employee, Charla Symons, highlighted the positive impact of the four-day week on her personal and professional life. “As a busy mum, my priority has always been to carve a career alongside family. I believe Rachel’s abundant mindset and culture for openness and seeing the ‘whole person’ absolutely nails the environment I need to be my best self. Working a four-day week is a testament to this culture. I can say with absolute honesty that I love my job,” Charla shared.
Growing Trend
Joe Ryle, Director of the 4 Day Week Campaign, praised Agile Communications for joining the increasing number of marketing firms adopting a four-day week. “Congratulations to The Agile Communications Agency who have joined the rapidly growing number of marketing firms adopting a four-day week. It’s great to see more and more organisations adopting a four-day week as a way of retaining staff, increasing productivity, and embracing the future of work. It’s a win-win for both workers and employers,” Joe stated.
