Take a gruesome journey back to Ancient Egypt with Awful Egyptians, where history comes alive – mummies and all. From the power of the pyramids to the secrets of the afterlife, it’s all here. You’ll “rumble with Ramesses the Great” and uncover “the foul facts of death, decay, and those menacing mummies”. This is history with all the nasty bits left in.

The Ultimate History Lesson – With All the Horrible Bits

Written by Terry Deary, Neal Foster and JP Cherrington, the shows are based on Terry’s bestselling Horrible Histories books – which have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and been translated into 42 languages.

Terry is the world’s bestselling non-fiction author for children and has written over 200 books. His Horrible Histories series remains one of the most popular in children’s publishing across the globe.

Both Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians are directed by Neal Foster and brought to life with the creative talents of Jackie Trousdale (design), Jason Taylor (lighting), Nick Sagar (sound), Matthew Scott (music), and Kenn Oldfield (choreography).

These productions come from the acclaimed Birmingham Stage Company – the team behind Awful Auntie, Gangsta Granny, Demon Dentist, and George’s Marvellous Medicine.

Recommended for ages 5 to 105 (106 year olds may not like them!), these shows are a riot through history not to be missed.

Catch Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians at Hall for Cornwall, Truro, from 22nd to 25th May 2025. Book one or see both – either way, you’re in for a horribly brilliant history lesson.
