A new report has ranked the roads in Cornwall based on the delays experienced by drivers, highlighting the areas where travellers face the most significant hold-ups.

Cromwell Trucks and Online Marketing Surgery have collaborated to create the Road Delay Report, revealing the top 10 most delayed motorways and major A roads in Cornwall. The findings were based on the average time vehicles are delayed per mile travelled in 2023.

  1. A30 westbound between A39 near Newquay (west) and A390: 92.4 seconds per vehicle per mile
  2. A30 eastbound between A39 near Newquay (west) and A3076: 81.6 seconds per vehicle per mile
  3. A30 eastbound within the A39 junction: 78.5 seconds per vehicle per mile
  4. A38 westbound between A390 near Liskeard (west) and A30: 59 seconds per vehicle per mile
  5. A30 eastbound between A390 and A39 near Newquay (west): 58.9 seconds per vehicle per mile
  6. A30 eastbound at a minor junction between A390 and A39 near Newquay (west): 53.4 seconds per vehicle per mile
  7. A38 eastbound at a minor junction between A390 near Liskeard (east) and A374 near Liskeard: 49 seconds per vehicle per mile
  8. A38 westbound between B3271 near Plymouth (west) and A388: 47 seconds per vehicle per mile
  9. A38 eastbound between A30 and A390 near Liskeard (west): 44.7 seconds per vehicle per mile
  10. A30 eastbound between A394 and A3074: 44.2 seconds per vehicle per mile

Methodology

The data for this report was sourced from GOV.UK, focusing on the delays experienced on motorways and major A roads in England. The report specifically looked at how many seconds a vehicle is held up per mile travelled on average in 2023.
