A390 Set For Weekend Closure – 16/02/2024 – 19/02/2024
The upcoming weekend will see a significant closure on the A390 in Cornwall as part of the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross upgrade project. This extensive construction work necessitates the temporary shutdown of the A390 between the Chiverton Interchange and Penstraze Lane. Scheduled from 7pm on Friday, February 16th, until 6am on Monday, February 19th, the closure is crucial for resurfacing and elevating the road to its final surface level.
To mitigate the impact on local and through traffic, diversion routes have been meticulously planned and agreed upon with Cornwall Council. While the A30 stretch between Carland Cross and Scorrier will remain open to traffic, authorities anticipate delays around the closure and diversion routes throughout the weekend. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys with these delays in mind, allow extra time for essential travel, and avoid the area if possible.
Special provisions have been made to ensure access for emergency services via Penstraze Lane, along with maintaining key bus routes. Additionally, arrangements are in place to allow access for residents and businesses located within the closure zone, ensuring minimal disruption to their daily activities.
The closure marks a pivotal phase in the Chiverton to Carland Cross upgrade project, aimed at enhancing road safety, traffic flow, and infrastructure resilience in the region. National Highways and Cornwall Council are urging the public to stay informed about the closure, review the provided diversion routes, and prepare for the upcoming weekend. Community cooperation is greatly appreciated as these essential improvements are made to benefit all road users in Cornwall.
