A30 Overnight Closures Announced: Check Your Route to Avoid Disruption
Motorists travelling on the A30 between the M5 and Redruth are being urged to plan ahead, as National Highways: South-West has announced a series of overnight closures starting this week. The closures are part of ongoing maintenance work to refresh road markings and replace cat’s eyes along this busy stretch of road.
Schedule of Closures
The closures will be carried out in phases, affecting different sections of the A30 on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. Below is the detailed schedule to help you plan your journeys:
- Monday 5th August to Wednesday 7th August: The eastbound carriageway of the A30 will be closed between the Scorrier Interchange and Chiverton Cross Roundabout. These closures will be in effect from 8pm to 6am each night.
- Thursday 8th August to Thursday 15th August: The focus will shift to the westbound carriageway, which will be closed between Chiverton Cross Roundabout and the Avers Interchange. These closures will also take place between 8pm and 6am. It’s important to note that the Scorrier Interchange will remain open during this period.
- Friday 16th August to Tuesday 20th August: The eastbound A30 will once again see closures, this time between the Avers and Scorrier Interchanges. The closures will be active from 8pm to 6am each night.
- Wednesday 21st August: A one-night closure will occur on the eastbound A30 at the Liftondown and Lifton junctions, affecting the Stowford exit and entry, as well as the Sourton exit, from 8pm to 6am.
- They will then continue to work their way along the A30.
Diversion Routes and Planning Ahead
To minimise the impact on traffic, clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during these closures. However, National Highways is advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys and to plan ahead, especially if travelling during the affected hours.
For those who regularly use the A30 or have upcoming travel plans along this route, checking the latest closure information on the National Highways website is recommended. This will ensure that you have the most up-to-date details and can avoid potential delays.
The work is expected to continue into next week, with the phased approach designed to limit disruption as much as possible. Nonetheless, motorists should remain vigilant and adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid the closed sections.
