Osprey Charging Network Expands UK-Wide EV Charging from Land’s End to John O’Groats
Osprey Charging, the UK’s leading and fastest-growing EV rapid-charging network, has extended its coverage from Land’s End to John O’Groats with the installation of a new rapid EV charging site in Penzance.
This development supports local residents, businesses, and visitors with reliable electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
New High-Powered Charging Site in Penzance
The new 150kW rapid charge point at Land’s End, Penzance, can charge two EVs simultaneously and is compatible with every EV on the market today. It can typically add up to 100 miles of range in just 15-20 minutes, depending on the vehicle model and its battery. Positioned conveniently off the A30, the charger provides an ideal spot for drivers to recharge while exploring the attractions of Land’s End.
User-Friendly and Reliable Charging Experience
Osprey Chargers are designed for simplicity and ease of use, accepting contactless bank cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey App, and RFID card payments. They also support all major third-party payment methods, including fleet cards. Osprey’s proprietary software, Osprey Iris, ensures high reliability and innovation in EV roaming. This dedication to service has earned Osprey a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ ranking by Zap-Map for the fourth consecutive year and the title of ‘Best EV Charging Network’ at the Transport and Energy Awards.
Supporting the UK’s Decarbonisation Goals
Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, emphasised the importance of reliable and rapid public charging services as the UK prepares for the 2035 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles. “The new charging site in Penzance is a crucial part of Osprey’s roll-out of public charging infrastructure in key locations across the UK. With over 1,000 charge points now available, each designed to maximise space and accessibility, we are committed to enabling the decarbonisation of transport in the UK,” Ian stated.
Enhancing Local Infrastructure and Environment
As EV adoption rises, installations like the one in Penzance will play a significant role in encouraging more visitors to Cornwall to consider EVs. This, in turn, will bolster the national charging infrastructure, improve local air quality, reduce noise pollution, and support local decarbonisation efforts.
Osprey has fully funded the installation, operation, and maintenance of these chargers, all of which are powered by renewable energy. The landlord for the site, Heritage Great Britain, benefits from a future-proofed car park and the ability to attract more EV drivers as customers.
Leading the Way in EV Charging
Osprey’s network, known for its reliability and broad range of locations, includes local sites and hubs on major roads. Notable among these is the award-winning, 16-charger hub at Salmon’s Leap, Buckfastleigh on the A38 Devon Expressway. Osprey charging locations consistently score highly for safety and accessibility, as verified by independent inspection body ChargeSafe. In 2023, Osprey was recognised with the Chargepoint Network of the Year and Private Sector Infrastructure Strategy of the Year awards at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards.
This expansion underscores Osprey Charging’s commitment to providing comprehensive and dependable EV charging solutions across the UK, ensuring a seamless transition to a more sustainable future for all drivers.
