Jet Ski Drama at Kennack Sands: Two Rescued by Lizard RNLI Lifeboat

Two individuals were rescued after a Jet Ski incident near Kennack Sands on Tuesday, 10th September, thanks to the quick response from The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat.

Jet Ski Incident

The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat, RNLB Rose, was launched at 1:15pm following a distress call received by Falmouth Coastguard at 1:02pm. The lifeboat crew responded to reports of two casualties who had fallen from a Jet Ski in the waters near Kennack Sands. The Jet Ski itself had become partially submerged, leaving one person clinging to the hull while the other attempted to swim ashore.

Rapid Response Saves Lives

RNLB Rose arrived at the scene within four minutes. With the help of the on-duty RNLI Lifeguards, it was confirmed that one casualty had successfully swum to the beach, while the other was still in the water. The second individual was recovered by the lifeboat crew and provided with medical attention on board, as he was suffering from the effects of cold water exposure. Fortunately, he was wearing a buoyancy aid.

Jet Ski Recovery

The Coxswain decided to deploy the lifeboat’s smaller Y-boat to tow the partially submerged Jet Ski back to Kennack Sands. The Jet Ski was safely attended to by the lifeguards on the beach, and the Y-boat was recovered by RNLB Rose.

After the successful rescue, the lifeboat returned to its station where the casualty was met by First Response ambulance personnel, before being handed over to paramedics from Cornwall Ambulance Service.

Lifeboat Ready for Action

Thanks to the collaboration between The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat crew, RNLI Lifeguards, and HM Coastguard Rescue Teams, the rescue was swiftly handled. RNLB Rose was quickly prepared for any further emergencies after the incident.
