Police Continue Forensic Investigation into Suspected Murder in Sticker
Police expect scene to be active for weeks as remains believed to be Daniel Coleman’s are recovered
A major forensic investigation is continuing in Sticker this week, as specialist police teams examine a large area of woodland believed to be connected to the murder of Daniel Coleman from St Austell.
Detective Superintendent Kev Till confirmed that officers are working “methodically across a large and challenging area of woodland” and that the site remains under intense scrutiny.
“This is an extremely complex and unique investigation,” Kev said. “Our enquiries are progressing with diligence and a significant police presence is expected to remain at the scene into the coming weeks.”
Human remains believed to be Daniel Coleman
Human remains discovered at the scene are believed to be those of Daniel Coleman. However, formal identification has not yet taken place and is expected to take some time.
“Searches are continuing in order to fully understand what happened to Daniel and for us to be able to provide answers for his family,” Kev added.
Man charged with murder
A suspect has now been charged in connection with the case. James Desborough, aged 39, from Old Oak Woods in Lower Sticker, has been charged with the murder of Daniel Coleman. He has appeared in court and has been remanded in custody.
James is due to appear before Truro Crown Court on 8th August.
Public urged not to speculate
Detectives are urging people not to speculate on the case, particularly on social media, in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing legal proceedings.
“Any members of the public with concerns can contact us via our website or by calling 101,” Kev said. “Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online or by calling freephone 0800 555111.”
