Discover Your Voice: Join the St Mawgan Military Wives Choir at Their Free New Members’ Night
Calling all women connected to the military through family, work, or service themselves! The St Mawgan Military Wives Choir is opening its doors to new members with a special, free New Members’ Night on Wednesday 22nd May 2024, from 7 PM to 9 PM, at RAF St Mawgan.
This welcoming event promises an evening of song, solidarity, and delicious homemade cake, providing the perfect opportunity for potential members to experience the joy and community of the Military Wives Choirs.
A Choir With a Cause
The St Mawgan Military Wives Choir, part of the expansive network of over 70 Military Wives Choirs located at British military bases both in the UK and overseas, aims to unite women in the military community through the power of singing. Regular rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening, providing a supportive and uplifting environment where members can enhance their well-being, forge lasting friendships, and develop valuable skills.
Open to All Women of the Military Community
Sarah Preston, the lead of the St Mawgan Choir, emphasises that the choir is keen to welcome new members who are wives, partners, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters of serving personnel, veterans, civil servants, and other personnel associated with the military, as well as serving military women themselves. “There is no audition necessary,” Sarah says, highlighting the inclusivity and diversity of the choir’s membership, which varies in age and background. “We have so much fun rehearsing and performing. It’s a network we rely on that gives back far more than we ever anticipated.”
An Evening of Music and Merriment
The New Members’ Night is not just about observing; it’s about participating. Attendees will have the chance to learn a brand-new song that the choir has not performed before. To sweeten the occasion, plenty of homemade cake will be available, ensuring a delightful and tasty introduction to the choir’s activities.
