New waterfront seafood menu launches at The Idle Rocks

A new summer dining experience is now underway at The Idle Rocks in St Mawes, blending fresh seafood, magnums of rosé and live music on the hotel’s waterfront terrace.

Rosé on the Rocks is the latest offering from the boutique hotel, pairing a special seafood menu with a curated list of rosé wines in collaboration with Whispering Angel, the popular Provence-based rosé produced by Château d’Esclans.

With views across the Fal Estuary, guests can enjoy the new menu every day throughout the summer, while a live DJ sets the tone every Saturday from 12pm to 3.30pm.

Fresh seafood, caught just across the harbour

Designed by new head chef Carla Jones, the menu showcases the best of Cornish seafood and ingredients, with a focus on sea-to-table cooking.

Dishes include Porthilly oysters served natural or with mignonette, Fruits de Mer platters, and mains such as monkfish in satay sauce, gurnard with kelp butter, and grilled St Mawes lobster with parsley and garlic butter. For something more indulgent, the turbot on the bone with vin jaune marinière is available to share or enjoy solo.

Seafood is sourced from local fisherman Gareth Austin, whose boat Jodie-Ann is moored just across the harbour. Diners can even select their fish from a market-style counter and speak directly with Carla for a bespoke meal.

“Food, wine and beautiful surroundings”

“We’ve created Rosé on the Rocks to celebrate everything we love about summer at The Idle Rocks – the food, the wine, and above all the beautiful surroundings,” said Carla.

“I’ve designed the menu to be light, seasonal, and perfect for sharing, a true reflection of Cornwall’s coastal bounty. With the fish caught by our in-house fisherman, Gareth, it truly is sea-to-table dining at its best.”

Rosé on the Rocks runs every day throughout the summer, with entertainment every Saturday from 12pm to 3.30pm. For more information or to book, visit idlerocks.com/.
