St Ives Welcomes Improved Co-op Store in Royal Square

The Co-op proudly announces the re-opening of its Royal Square store in St Ives today, marking the completion of a comprehensive six-week enhancement program. The store, which now opens its doors daily from 7am to 11pm, is set to support 12 local jobs, reinforcing its commitment to the community.

This store, among three Co-op locations in St Ives, including The Stennack and Tregenna Place, aims to cater both to the residents and the influx of tourists. The nearly 2,000 sq ft facility now features an in-store bakery, a wide array of fresh and healthy products, meal solutions, everyday essentials, food-to-go options, chilled beers, award-winning wines, ready meals, pizzas, as well as Fairtrade, free-from, vegan, and plant-based products.

In a move to enhance shopping convenience, especially during peak times, the store has introduced self-scan tills. Additionally, a soft plastic recycle unit is now available for community use, accepting items such as crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals and yoghurt pots, biscuit wrappers, and pet food pouches. This initiative ensures that all Co-op’s own food packaging can be recycled either through local authority kerbside collections or the in-store recycling unit.

The upgrade also includes improved back-of-shop storage and warehousing aimed at boosting product availability and operational resilience. Further contributing to the convenience is the co-op’s online home delivery service, which covers a 10-mile radius around St Ives. Orders placed through the Co-op’s online shop are picked fresh from the store and delivered swiftly to customers in the surrounding area.

Store Manager Liam Douglas

Store Manager, Liam Douglas, expressed enthusiasm about the community’s positive reception to the renovations. “The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in improving the store to serve and support residents and visitors to the area,” he said. Douglas emphasised the store’s goal to be at the heart of local life, offering a range of products and services designed to meet the community’s needs conveniently.

The Co-op, one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives, offers its members significant benefits, including member-only pricing on everyday essentials and personalised offers through the Co-op Membership app. A recent initiative launched in January introduced member prices on an additional 117 everyday items, including branded goods, following a significant investment in convenience pricing the previous year.
