Crashes, Junior Racers, and a Mum’s Race: St Day Hosts Thrilling Banger Racing Event
Final Banger Races of the Year in Cornwall
The United Downs Raceway in St Day is set to host its penultimate race meeting of the year this Sunday, 17th November 2024, starting at 12 noon. Spectators will see the 2 Litre National Bangers take to the track in Cornwall for the last time this year, alongside a highly anticipated programme featuring Old Skool Bangers and the Ministox junior class.
This event is particularly crucial for the Old Skool Bangers drivers, who will compete for points to secure a spot on the grid for the Supreme Championship, set to take place at the Raceway in late December.
Mum’s Race Brings a Fun Twist
A special highlight of the day will be the rescheduled Mum’s Race for Ministox SW, a group formed earlier this year to support the junior racing class. Initially planned for September, the one-off race will now take place during the last Ministox fixture of the season.
Participants include Amy Rabone from Totnes, Sam Rowe from Pensilva, Donna Crosbie from Stithians, Carly Brooks from Torquay, and Heidi Mikulla from Congresbury, with two additional entrants yet to be confirmed.
Chaos on the Track: 2 Litre National Bangers
The 2 Litre National Bangers are known for their chaotic, crash-filled races, and this weekend promises more of the same. Standout driver Lewis Fasey from Sampford Peverell has dominated the season with eight wins from twelve starts, while Luke Gillbard from Launceston and Chris James from Camborne have provided plenty of thrills with their aggressive driving styles.
Fans can also look forward to the return of Terry Senford from St Stephen and another appearance from young racer Blossom Congdon of Callington.
Old Skool Bangers Headline Championship Fight
Drivers of the Old Skool Bangers will compete in their fourth and final opportunity to earn points towards the Supreme Championship grid positions. These races, featuring large, rear-wheel-drive cars, will see Mark Bartlett from Weymouth defending his position as the current points leader.
Ministox: Tomorrow’s Stars on Display
The Ministox races, which train drivers aged 11 to 16, will showcase local talent such as Elliot Bawden from Pensilva, Caden Clark from Luxulyan, Lexi Crosbie from Stithians, and Amy Williams from Penzance. Travelling from further afield, William Hunn from Horsmonden near Tunbridge Wells will make his track debut.

Spectators can look forward to a day packed with action, from nail-biting crashes to inspiring performances by young racers, and a fun Mum’s Race to top it all off. Don’t miss the final banger racing thrills of the year in Cornwall!
