What’s Being Planned for Penwinnick Road? Final Chance to Have Your Say
Cornish developer Treveth has announced the final public consultation event on its plans to transform the former Cornwall Council offices site on Penwinnick Road, St Austell.
Final Consultation Set for April
The third and final drop-in session will take place on Tuesday 29th April 2025, between 2pm and 7pm at Pondhu Children’s Centre, Dithmarschen Way, St Austell, PL25 5DS.
Locals are invited to find out more about Treveth’s emerging proposals for the redevelopment, which would see the creation of a new mixed-use neighbourhood designed to support community living in the heart of St Austell. Those attending will be able to view display boards, speak to the Treveth team and give their feedback on the updated plans.
A New Community for St Austell
The 3.7-hectare site will feature a mix of one to four bedroom homes and apartments, with a focus on providing homes for people who live, work or have family connections in the area. The development will offer open market rental and affordable housing, while discouraging second home ownership.
Also included in the proposals is a small commercial centre, which aims to support the local economy by providing job opportunities and amenities for residents. Green spaces and existing mature trees from the former council site are being retained, with the development designed to encourage social connection and wellbeing.
According to Emma Rodgers, Head of Land and Planning at Treveth, “We received valuable feedback from members of the public who attended our previous drop-in sessions and we’re looking forward to communicating how this feedback has helped us shape the future of this key site.”
She added, “Our plans for this mixed-use development will improve community spaces and provide new, much-needed homes for local people, alongside incorporating commercial space which will boost the economy.”
Shaped by Local Input
The feedback gathered at this final event will help shape the final designs, with a planning application due to be submitted in late May 2025. Those unable to attend in person will still have the chance to view the plans and give feedback online.
The consultation materials and online questionnaire will be available from 29th April to 9th May 2025 at www.treveth.co.uk/penwinnick-rd-final.
Emma said, “We’re looking forward to meeting with local residents again and giving those who couldn’t attend the previous events one last chance to meet with the Treveth team and ask any questions they may have.”
