Splash into 2025: Refurbished St Austell Leisure Centre Pool Reopens
The New Year has kicked off with exciting news for the St Austell community as the refurbished pool at St Austell Leisure Centre reopened on 2nd January. The popular facility, operated by the not-for-profit social enterprise GLL on behalf of Cornwall Council, has undergone a £75,000 upgrade to enhance its appeal and functionality.
Upgrades to Protect and Entertain
The refurbishment includes recoating the stainless-steel pool tank to guard against rust and corrosion. Alongside these essential improvements, splash features have been reintroduced, promising even more fun for families enjoying the pool.
Expanded Swimming Programme
The swimming programme has also been given a boost, offering extended opening hours and more opportunities for laned and family swimming. Additional Aquacise classes and extra swim schools have been introduced to meet the growing demand.
“More than 900 children from 20 local primary schools are enrolled in the swimming lessons we provide – underlining how important our facility is to our community,” said Tristan Knight, General Manager.

Tristan highlighted the significance of the facility, saying, “The investment and refurbishment have made a real difference and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back so they can enjoy a splashing time in 2025.”
