Busy Days for St Agnes Coastguard with Multiple Emergencies

The St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team has experienced a flurry of activity over the past few days, responding to multiple incidents along the Cornish coastline.

Surfer Pulled from Water at Porthtowan Beach

On Wednesday, 18th September, at approximately 16:40, the team was dispatched to Porthtowan Beach following reports of a surfer who had been pulled from the water. Upon arrival, they assisted in the initial triage of the casualty before handing them over to the Ambulance Service. The team has extended their well-wishes for a swift recovery to the individual involved.

Medical Incident at Perranporth Beach

The following day, Thursday, 19th September, the team received a call at 14:18 to attend a medical incident at Perranporth Beach. However, they were stood down before leaving the station as their assistance was no longer required.

Tombstoning Incident at Trevaunance Cove

Friday evening proved to be particularly demanding for the team. At 21:35, they were alerted to an incident at Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes, where a person had sustained injuries after tombstoning and had to be pulled from the water. The Coastguard team, along with the Ambulance Service, provided immediate care and assisted in carrying the casualty to the waiting ambulance. The team is hoping for a speedy recovery for the injured party.

Helicopter Landing Site Support in Malpas, Truro

Just minutes after the Trevaunance Cove incident, at 22:15, the team was called to Malpas in Truro to provide Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) support for Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924. The swift response of the team ensured that the helicopter could safely operate in the area.

Ordnance Found at Chapel Porth Beach

On Saturday, 21st September, at 12:29, the team was dispatched to Chapel Porth Beach to investigate reports of ordnance. Upon arrival, they liaised with the lifeguards and located the object, awaiting further information on how to proceed.
