Why Has Will Becconsall Returned to Cornwall? Scrum Half Joins Pirates on Loan
The Cornish Pirates have confirmed the arrival of Will Becconsall, a Cornwall-born scrum half, who joins the squad on loan from Exeter Chiefs.
A Timely Addition to the Squad
The move comes as the Pirates face a shortage in the scrum half position. Cam Jones is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, while Will Rigelsford is not available at this time.
Speaking about the signing, joint head coach Gavin Cattle said:
“With Cam Jones out with an ankle injury, and with Will Rigelsford not available at this present time, we needed to bolster our squad.”
Back to Fitness
Will had also been out with an injury but has recently returned to fitness. He’s made a couple of appearances for Exeter University and brings with him the valuable experience of having featured for the Chiefs in the Premiership.
Gavin added:
“Will Becconsall himself has been injured, but he has worked his way back to fitness with a couple of run outs for Exeter University, plus he that experience of having played for the Chiefs in the Premiership.
“We are excited to be working with him and it once again underlines our good relationship with Exeter.”
The loan deal strengthens the Pirates’ squad depth during a key stage of the season, while also continuing their connection with Exeter Chiefs.
