Tyler Harvey, Truro City FC’s top striker, has been awarded the Vanarama National League South Player of the Month for October after an impressive run that saw him score four goals. The league’s leading scorer continued his strong form, with key goals throughout the month, showcasing his skill and precision on the pitch.
The 28-year-old forward, who committed to a multi-year contract with Truro in August, netted twice in a 3-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond. Harvey then delivered a powerful free-kick in the match against Farnborough, before concluding his October performance with a penalty goal that secured a 2-1 win over Tonbridge Angels.
A Moment of Pride for Harvey and the Team
Reflecting on the award, Harvey expressed his gratitude and pride, attributing his success to the team’s overall efforts. “It is a proud moment and a fitting reward not just for myself, but for the team as well,” Harvey shared with Truro City FC. “I know it is a bit of a cliched thing to say, but I wouldn’t have got this award without the lads digging in and getting good results.”
Harvey also highlighted the advantage of playing on home turf. “We are back in Truro, in front of our own fans with a good team around me. That is a good recipe for the success which we are enjoying at the moment.”
City’s Strong Position in the League
After last night’s home draw with Chippenham Town, Truro City holds second place in the Vanarama National League South, trailing league leaders Eastbourne Borough by three points. The Tinners have a game in hand, positioning them well as the season progresses. Despite initial predictions that this season might prove challenging, John Askey’s squad has shown resilience and skill.
When asked what he would have thought about this successful start back in the summer, Harvey said with a smile, “I would have snapped their hands off, that’s for sure. But we fully deserve to be where we are in the league, and it isn’t early in the season. It is November, we are second in the league and let’s see how long we can keep that going.”
Looking Ahead for Truro City
As the season progresses, Truro City fans will be watching closely to see if Harvey and his teammates can maintain their momentum. With strong performances on the field and the backing of their home crowd, the team aims to keep up the pace as they strive for further success in the league.
