Truro City’s Paul Wotton Named National League South Manager of the Month

Truro City’s Paul Wotton has been awarded the Vanarama National League South Manager of the Month for December 2023. This accolade comes on the heels of a highly successful month for Truro, which saw them clinch four wins in five games.

The month’s campaign kicked off with an impressive 3-1 victory over St Albans City at home. Andrew Neal, Will Dean, and Adam Porter each netted a goal to secure the win. Although the team faced a setback in their next outing, losing 2-1 to Maidstone with Tyler Harvey scoring for Truro, this did not deter their spirit.

Rallying back with resilience, Truro recorded three consecutive victories, including two away wins. Their winning streak began in Somerset against Weston-super-Mare. Here, Dean, Harvey Greenslade, and Ryan Law each scored in a nail-biting 3-2 win. This was followed by a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Havant and Waterlooville at Bolitho Park, thanks to a stunning goal from Harvey.

The crowning moment of Truro’s December campaign was the 1-0 win against Torquay United at Plainmoor on Boxing Day. Ben Adlesbury’s header led to what has been described as one of Truro’s finest triumphs in league football.

Reflecting on this honour, Manager Paul Wotton expressed pride and attributed the success to the entire team. “The award is a reflection of the successful month that we had in December,” Wotton said. He praised the team’s unity and hard work, which was especially significant given the limited squad and budget.

Wotton, who recently signed a new long-term contract with Truro, singled out the victory against Torquay as the most memorable. He highlighted the importance of the match, played in front of nearly 4,000 spectators, praising the team’s performance against a formidable full-time football club.

The award, as Wotton humbly points out, is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the “Truro City, Team of the Month.” His leadership, coupled with the team’s determination and spirit, has indeed written a memorable chapter in Truro City FC’s history.
