Truro City has announced the signing of goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe, marking a significant addition to their squad.
The 27-year-old has committed to a two-year contract with the Tinners, keeping him at the Truro Sports Hub until the summer of 2026.
Impressive Track Record
Dan Lavercombe brings a wealth of experience to Truro City, having spent the 2023-24 season with Taunton Town. During his time with the Peacocks, he made 39 appearances and achieved 12 clean sheets. His consistent performance and reliability between the posts have made him a standout player.
Lavercombe began his career with Torquay United, breaking into the first team at the end of the 2014-15 season. His remarkable performances caught the attention of Wigan Athletic, who signed him in January 2016. Despite this move, Dan was immediately loaned back to Torquay for the remainder of the season, showcasing his loyalty and dedication to his hometown club.
Career Journey
Following his time at Wigan, Dan Lavercombe experienced several loan spells, including a return to Torquay and a stint with Rhyl in the League of Wales. He left Wigan in the summer of 2019 and joined AFC Fylde, a National League side, for one season, making five appearances at Step One.
Before joining Taunton Town, Dan spent three productive years with FC United of Manchester in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (Step Three). His outstanding performance earned him the Supporters’ Player of the Year Award for the 2022-23 season.
Exciting Times Ahead
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Truro City, Dan Lavercombe told trurocity.co.uk, “It is an exciting time to join Truro City. We are moving back to Truro and we also have a really good squad in place. Last year, with all that Truro had to contend with at the back end of the season, they did really well to stay in the league and I am confident that we build on that.”
He added, “From my experience of playing in this league before, there is nobody that we should be scared of. With a good side and a good group of lads, there is no limit on how well you can do. Who knows what the season will hold, but I would like to think we would push towards the top end of the season. From a personal point of view, I hope to deliver consistent performances and I know a few of the lads already. I am a solid presence and hopefully I can give us something to build on in the season coming.”
Looking Forward
As Dan Lavercombe prepares to join Truro City, fans and teammates alike are optimistic about the upcoming season. With his solid track record and determined attitude, Dan is expected to play a crucial role in helping Truro City achieve their goals for the 2024-2025 season. The future looks bright for the Tinners with such a talented goalkeeper in their ranks.
