Truro City Bolsters Squad with Dual Loan Signings Ahead of National League South Fixture
Truro City FC has announced the loan signings of midfielder Ryan Kavanagh from Cardiff City and striker Ollie Bray from Aldershot Town. This strategic decision comes just in time for the team’s upcoming Vanarama National League South clash against Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Ryan Kavanagh, a product of Cardiff City’s esteemed academy, has been with the Bluebirds since the tender age of seven. Over the years, he has showcased his talent in Cardiff’s under-18 and under-21 teams. Despite a challenging knee injury last year, Kavanagh made a triumphant return to the field, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-0 victory over Swansea City in the under-21 squad. His loan to Truro City will last until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Truro City’s manager, Paul Wotton, expressed his excitement over Kavanagh’s arrival, highlighting the midfielder’s energy, ball skills, and box-to-box capability. Wotton’s confidence in Kavanagh is bolstered by recommendations from Darren Purse, a figure Wotton holds in high regard within football circles. The loan agreement was warmly acknowledged, with thanks extended to Cardiff City for their cooperation.
Ollie Bray, the 20-year-old striker making the temporary switch from Aldershot Town, has been on Truro’s radar for some time, courtesy of his impressive performances with Willand Rovers. Last season, Bray’s ability to find the back of the net and his contribution of six assists demonstrated his potential. His short stint with Manchester United’s under-23s during the off-season, along with a goal against West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup while with Aldershot, has only added to his growing reputation.
Wotton shared his long-standing interest in Bray, recounting the player’s impact during a pre-season match against Willand Rovers. Describing Bray as a “real handful” and praising his speed, Wotton sees Bray’s addition as a significant boost to Truro City’s attacking options, especially with a packed schedule of eight games in a month.
These signings underscore Truro City’s intent to make a strong impact in the league, with both Kavanagh and Bray expected to bring vital energy, skill, and versatility to the team. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how these new additions meld with the squad and contribute to the team’s ambitions in the National League South.
