Saltash United Secures Major Defensive Boost: Elliott Crawford Signs On

Saltash United has made a significant addition to their squad with the signing of Elliott Crawford, a highly regarded centre half, who is expected to fortify their defence at Kimberley Stadium. The 24-year-old defender joins from local rivals Torpoint Athletic, where he made an impressive 33 appearances last season.

From Torpoint to Saltash

Elliott Crawford’s football journey has seen him rise through the ranks with dedication and skill. Starting as an apprentice at Plymouth Argyle, he gained valuable experience, including a memorable performance in the FA Youth Cup during the 2017/18 season, where he helped Plymouth eliminate Manchester City on penalties. Following his release from Argyle, he had a brief stint at Bodmin Town before establishing himself as a key player at Torpoint Athletic.

A Long-Awaited Signing

Saltash United’s coach, Macca, expressed his excitement over securing Crawford, a player he has long admired and pursued for several summers. “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Elliott to the club,” Macca said. “He’s an experienced player at this level now but still has his best years in front of him, and I feel his game can still go on another level, and so does he.”

Macca highlighted Crawford’s football education and his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of former teammates who have achieved success at this level. “Elliott has watched some of his ex-teammates go on and win trophies in the last couple of years. That’s what he wants to do now, and I’m delighted that he believes he can do that with us at Saltash, because so do we,” Macca added.
