Plans for More Seating and Improved Accessibility

Truro City Football Club has secured planning approval from Cornwall Council to enhance its stadium facilities, marking a significant milestone for the club’s ambitions. The upgrade will see over 500 new seats added to the Truro City Stadium, with plans to introduce a dedicated family seating area and additional disabled seating and wheelchair provisions.

Expanding the Eden Hot Tubs North Stand

As part of the redevelopment, the Eden Hot Tubs North Stand will be doubled in size. The terraced areas on either side will be shifted east and west, with both sections covered to provide supporters with more shelter from the elements.

John Fabby, the stadium lead for Truro City, highlighted the importance of the upgrade, saying:

“We believe this delivers the supporters’ needs of providing the much-needed additional covered seating, but also covered standing to allow for better zoning of the ground. Fans will now have covered accommodation for almost the full length of the pitch on the north side of the ground.”

Funded by the Premier League Stadium Fund

The project, estimated to cost £180,000, will be funded through the Premier League Stadium Fund. Clubs competing at the National League South level can access up to £250,000 every five years for ground improvements.

CAD Architects, a loyal sponsor of the club, managed the planning application process. The club is now assessing its fixture schedule and contractor availability before finalising a timeline for the works.

Focus on Accessibility

Truro City Stadium is already recognised as one of the most accessible grounds in non-league football, featuring three standalone disability toilets and a Changing Places facility. The planned improvements will further enhance the matchday experience for disabled fans.

Fabby expressed gratitude for the support received from local authorities, adding:

“The club would like to thank not only Cornwall Council but also Kenwin Parish Council for supporting the application.”

Pushing Towards Football League Aspirations

Eric Perez, the club’s executive chairman, emphasised the importance of the upgrade for Truro City’s long-term goals:

“We are super pumped to reveal the club’s plans for ground improvements at the Truro City Stadium. This is another step on our journey towards the Football League and therefore making the TCS as spectator friendly as possible is key to the club’s continued progression.”

These upgrades mark an exciting chapter for the club as it continues to build a stadium that caters to all fans while pushing towards its Football League ambitions.
