Cornish Pirates Welcome Rising Star Joe Jenkins on Loan from Bristol Bears

In a significant boost to their squad, the Cornish Pirates have officially confirmed the arrival of 20-year-old centre Joe Jenkins, on a short-term loan from Bristol Bears. The Halifax-born talent, known for his commanding presence on the field at 6’3″ and weighing 15 and a half stones, brings a blend of power and speed to the Pirates.

Jenkins, a product of Monmouth School, has an impressive rugby pedigree. His youth career saw him play for Hereford and represent Newport Schools. His skills on the field didn’t go unnoticed as he achieved the honour of being the youngest player to start a Gallagher Premiership game for Bristol, making his mark against the Saracens in November 2022. Besides his Premiership debut, Jenkins has also shown his mettle in European competitions with the Bears.

His versatility extends beyond national borders, being eligible to play for Wales through his father’s heritage, despite having already donned the England jersey at the under 20s level.

The arrival of Jenkins comes at a crucial time for the Cornish Pirates. Joint head coach Gavin Cattle expressed his relief and excitement about this strategic acquisition, especially with a few midfield players nursing minor injuries. “We are grateful to Bristol Bears for allowing Joe to join us.
