Cornish Pirates v Bedford Blues: Who Will Come Out on Top?
High-stakes clash as Cornish side face second-placed Bedford Blues
The Cornish Pirates are preparing for a tough away fixture this Saturday as they travel to face Bedford Blues in a key Championship match-up, kicking off at 3pm.
This second versus sixth showdown at Goldington Road is expected to be a stern test. Encounters between the two sides have a history of being fiercely contested, and the Blues have earned respect as a well-drilled and experienced outfit.
Just One Change for Pirates
Following last Friday’s home win over London Scottish, the Pirates have made just one change to their starting XV. Billy Young steps into the role of loose-head prop, replacing James French who returns to the squad fit and takes a place on the bench.
Wing Arthur Relton will mark a proud milestone this weekend, making his 50th appearance for the club.
“We Know What to Expect”
Ahead of the clash, Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Alan Paver shared his thoughts:
“We know what to expect when going to Bedford, as they are a great side, one well coached, and with a great identity in the way they play. Also experienced, they are in the top two for a reason and we respect them.
“As ever, ahead of the contest there are certain aspects of our game that we will and have been working on, which we feel are important and need just to polish up.
“The fixture is often high scoring and often exciting, but if we turn up with the right attitude it is a place where we have won before.”
