Cornish Pirates Sign Prop Billy Keast for Upcoming Season
The Cornish Pirates have announced the return of prop Billy Keast for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old, who hails from Cornwall, will be joining the team on loan from Exeter Chiefs, marking his first confirmed contract with the Pirates this season.
A Familiar Face Returns
Billy, the son of former Redruth and Cornwall prop Richard Keast, has a rich history with the Cornish Pirates. He was previously dual-registered with the Pirates during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, making 31 appearances. His rugby journey began at the age of nine with Newquay Hornets, and he later honed his skills at Treviglas Community College and Truro College.
Rugby Career Highlights
Billy’s professional career took off after signing with Exeter Chiefs, where he has made 50 appearances across all competitions. Despite facing occasional injury setbacks, he has represented England at the under 18, 19, and under 20 levels, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
Focused on the Future
Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Alan Paver expressed his enthusiasm about Billy’s return, highlighting the valuable experience he brings to the team.
“We are absolutely delighted that Billy will be with us this coming season, as I think we need the experience he can offer in the front row,” Alan stated. “Billy has played in the Premiership, and we expect those young guys around him are going to really enjoy his knowledge.”
