Ron Hand joins VE Day commemoration during Pirates vs Hartpury game

The Cornish Pirates marked VE Day during their match against Hartpury on Saturday with a special guest of honour – 98-year-old World War Two veteran Ron Hand from Penzance.

Ron has long been a familiar figure around the Mennaye Field and was proudly elected a Vice President of Penzance & Newlyn RFC, a position he still holds.

In liaison with the Veterans Charity and PA announcer Phil Westren, a fellow long-serving Vice President, it was arranged for Ron to attend the game. He was warmly welcomed by all present.
