South West Water invites local residents to engage directly with experts at the Newquay Community Roadshow.

South West Water is reaching out to the Newquay and Crantock communities, inviting them to the latest in its series of Community Roadshows. The event is set to take place on Tuesday, 10th September, at the Mount Wise Community Centre in Newquay from 12pm to 4pm.

Meet the Experts and Have Your Say

This event provides a unique opportunity for local residents and businesses to interact with South West Water’s team of experts. Attendees can ask questions and discuss various topics, including the company’s ongoing and future investments, water resource management, and efforts to reduce the use of storm overflows.

The Community Roadshow is part of South West Water’s broader engagement strategy, which has already seen over 650 customers participate in 15 similar events across the South West region. These events are designed to be approachable and informal, offering attendees the chance to have their queries addressed over a cup of tea.

Significant Investment to Protect Newquay’s Beaches

As part of a substantial £2.8 billion investment across the South West region, South West Water is committing nearly £800,000 to enhance storm storage and improve pumping stations around Newquay and Crantock’s stunning beaches. These enhancements aim to safeguard the ‘excellent’ bathing water quality ratings of local beaches and work towards improving those currently rated as ‘good’, based on assessments by the Environment Agency.

Dani Twelvetree, Head of Customer Communication and Engagement at South West Water, emphasised the importance of customer feedback: “What our customers think matters. These Roadshows give us the opportunity to go over our investment plans and overall performance in a relaxed and open atmosphere. They are also a place where customers can talk to us face-to-face and voice their own questions and concerns.”
