Cornish Gran to Run South West Coast Path in Cornwall for Daughter’s Autism Dog
Six-day, 288-mile challenge kicks off next week from Plymouth to Bude
A Cornish grandmother is taking on a massive challenge next week, running 288 miles in just six days to raise funds for an Autism Assistance Dog for her daughter.
Hannah Ward will set off from Smeaton’s Tower in Plymouth on Monday 16th June, aiming to finish at the Bude Light by the end of the week. Her route follows the South West Coast Path, one of the most scenic but gruelling trails in the UK.
The fundraiser is in aid of her 25-year-old daughter Bryher, who is hoping for a life-changing companion in the form of an Autism Assistance Dog. These specially trained dogs provide crucial support to help people with autism navigate everyday life more independently and with greater confidence.

The Route
Hannah’s journey will cover an average of nearly 50 miles a day across some of Cornwall’s most rugged coastal terrain.
-
Day 1: Plymouth to Gorran Haven (55 miles)
-
Day 2: Gorran Haven to Coverack (45 miles)
-
Day 3: Coverack to Land’s End (55 miles)
-
Day 4: Land’s End to Porthtowan (46 miles)
-
Day 5: Porthtowan to Polzeath (48 miles)
-
Day 6: Polzeath to Bude (40 miles)
