Sennen Parish Council Seeks New Members to Shape Community’s Future
Four Positions Open for Co-option to Influence Local Decision-Making
Sennen Parish Council has announced an exciting opportunity for residents to get involved in shaping the future of their community. The council is seeking four candidates to join as co-opted Members, providing a chance for local individuals to make a tangible impact on the parish.
Making a Real Difference
As a member of Sennen Parish Council, candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to key decisions that affect the community. The council is responsible for allocating grant donations to local organisations, with £7,600 available in grant monies for 2024/25. Additionally, funds from the Community Infrastructure Levy are available for capital projects within the parish.
Beyond financial allocations, the council plays a critical role in maintaining access to Public Rights of Way and undertaking efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss. Members will also help prepare the parish for future challenges, ensuring that Sennen remains a resilient and vibrant community.
What the Role Involves
The role of a Parish Councillor is varied and involves a range of responsibilities. Councillors may be involved in planning events and services for the community and are consulted by Cornwall Council on local planning applications. Additionally, they contribute to the development and implementation of the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), which sets out the long-term vision for the parish.
Potential candidates will have the opportunity to meet current councillors to discuss the role and may be invited for co-option at the end of a Full Council Meeting.
Why You Should Consider Applying
This is a unique chance for residents of Sennen Parish to directly influence decisions that affect their community. Whether it’s supporting local projects, preserving natural resources, or planning for future growth, this role offers a platform to make a meaningful contribution.
If you’re passionate about your local area and want to help steer its development, this could be the perfect opportunity to get involved. The Parish Council is looking for motivated individuals who are eager to work towards a better future for Sennen.
