Join Sennen Parish Council in Enhancing the Scenery Along the A30

In a move towards enhancing the local landscape, Sennen Parish Council has announced plans to transform the Cornish hedge that borders the A30 and Cove Hill into a visually appealing feature for the village.

This effort is part of a broader goal to secure funding aimed at revitalising the area, starting with an appeal for community involvement in initial cleanup activities.

Community Engagement and Volunteer Work

The council has extended an open invitation to residents for volunteer work, which will focus on removing weed growth, conducting a litter pick, and tidying up the hedge situated on the cycle path opposite the school. The scheduled activities are set to take place on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of April, kicking off at 10 am at the Sennen Community Centre.

The initiative underscores the council’s commitment to community involvement, offering an opportunity for residents to contribute to the village’s beautification. Volunteers are encouraged to participate for any length of time, from ten minutes to four hours, with all efforts being greatly appreciated.

Support and Safety Measures

To ensure the wellbeing and comfort of all volunteers, the Parish Council has promised to provide refreshments and, if necessary due to adverse weather conditions, shelter within the Community Centre. Additionally, tools and gloves will be made available to those who need them, though participants are advised to bring their own equipment if possible, specifically Cornish shovels, secateurs, and shears.

In a nod to inclusivity, children are welcomed to join in the effort, provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult. This stipulation ensures safety as the work is to be carried out close to the A30.

Getting Involved

Residents who are interested in contributing to the project or who have any queries have been directed to contact the Parish Clerk via email at clerk@sennen-pc.gov.uk. Sennen Parish Council’s endeavour to beautify the village hedge not only aims to enhance the local environment but also to foster a sense of community and collective responsibility among its residents.
