Beach Bonfire Danger: Firefighters Extinguish Unattended Blaze in Seaton
On the evening of 20th May 2024, Torpoint Community Fire Station was called into action following reports of smoke sighted in Seaton, Downderry. The incident, which occurred at 21:49, saw a team of six firefighters dispatched to the scene to investigate.
Three Bonfires Discovered
Upon arrival at Seaton beach, the crew discovered three separate bonfires. Two of these fires were attended by members of the public who were present at the beach. However, the third fire was found fully unattended, posing a significant risk to the surrounding area.
Immediate Action Taken
Recognising the potential danger, the firefighters promptly extinguished the unattended bonfire and ensured the area was made safe. This swift response prevented what could have been a much more serious incident.
