Are You Tough Enough? Support East Cornwall Search & Rescue with These Epic Running Challenges
Three Gruelling Races Back East Cornwall Search & Rescue
Purple Gecko Events is backing East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team (ECSRT) with three endurance races this year -Smugglers Way, Smugglers Bail Out, and the Saints & Smugglers 100 Mile Challenge. The races will not only test participants’ stamina but also help raise much-needed funds for the volunteer-led rescue team.
ECSRT, a Bodmin-based charity, provides inland search and rescue services across East Cornwall and beyond. With no paid staff, the team relies entirely on public support to continue responding to around 40 incidents annually, assisting with missing person searches, injured walkers, urban flooding, and severe weather emergencies.
Free Places for Runners Willing to Fundraise
Purple Gecko has generously donated two free places for the Saints & Smugglers 100 Mile Challenge, inviting experienced runners to take on the challenge while raising funds for ECSRT. Those interested in securing a spot are encouraged to get involved and make a difference.

- Donate or set up fundraising events via Givey.
Emergency Contact Reminder
ECSRT is a member of Mountain Rescue England and Wales and the British Cave Rescue Council, responding to emergencies 24/7 across the region. In case of an emergency, dial 999 and ask Devon and Cornwall Police for Mountain Rescue.
