Former Newquay RNLI Lifeboat Volunteers Called to Celebrate 200th Anniversary
In an effort to commemorate the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) bicentennial, Newquay RNLI Lifeboat station is extending a special invitation to its past and present volunteers. The celebration aims to honour the dedication and bravery of those who have contributed to the life-saving efforts along the coast.
Due to the limitations in record-keeping, the RNLI has faced challenges in contacting former volunteers who have served at Newquay Lifeboat Station. This has prompted an open call for those with any history of volunteering, regardless of their role, to step forward and be part of this momentous event.
Carey Thomas, the Lifeboat Administration Officer at Newquay, is spearheading the organisation and coordination of the anniversary event. With a note of urgency, Thomas encourages former volunteers to make contact via email at carey_thomas@rnli.org.uk to ensure they receive an invitation. As spaces for the celebration are limited, prompt responses are appreciated to accommodate as many volunteers as possible.
The RNLI’s appeal also extends to the broader community, asking for assistance in spreading the word to ensure no former volunteer misses the opportunity to be recognised for their invaluable service. This gathering not only celebrates the RNLI’s 200 years of lifesaving heritage but also reinforces the spirit of volunteerism that is vital to the organisation’s continued success.
