After nearly a year of traversing the British coastline, Cornwall’s very own Sally and Antony are welcomed back into their home county.

The couple embarked on a remarkable journey to support life-saving charities and are now nearing the completion of their 5600-mile walk.

A Warm Welcome at Looe

Sally and Antony set off from the RNLI Bude Lifeboat Station on 15 May 2023, with the goal of walking clockwise around Britain. Their adventure aimed not only to challenge themselves but also to raise vital funds for the RNLI, Cornwall Air Ambulance, and other charities. Yesterday, the walkers received a warm reception from the volunteers at RNLI Looe Lifeboat Station, marking their return to Cornwall.

Engaging with Lifeboat Volunteers

During their brief stop in Looe, Sally and Antony were shown around by Carol, the Lifeboat Visits Officer. They got an up-close look at the inshore lifeboats and launch tractors, gaining insights into the operations that help save lives at sea. The couple expressed their gratitude to the volunteers, who in turn congratulated them on their significant achievement.

Final Stages of the Walk

As they continue their journey, Sally and Antony have just ten more lifeboat stations to visit before they complete their walk in Bude on 22 May. Sally has humorously remarked on her determination to avoid the temptation of “popping back home,” which is visible from the coastal path, until they officially finish their challenge.

How to Support Their Cause

For those inspired by Sally and Antony’s dedication and endurance, contributions to their cause can be made through their JustGiving page. Further adventures and updates are available on their Facebook page, where they share highlights and experiences from their journey.

The couple’s story is a testament to the power of community and commitment to supporting crucial services like the RNLI. As they approach the final leg of their journey, the anticipation grows not just amongst themselves but also among those following their inspiring story.
