Silent Bistro Spectacle: Bango Kitchen and Sharp’s Brewing Take Over The Buttermarket
Redruth’s Buttermarket, Cornwall’s rising foodie hotspot, will host an innovative culinary event on Wednesday, 5th February, as Bango Kitchen and Sharp’s Brewing Company collaborate for a one-night-only ‘Silent Bistro’ experience.
What’s Happening at The Buttermarket?
The Buttermarket, which opened in November last year, is fast becoming a destination for creativity and food. Situated next to Redruth train station, the venue provides a platform for emerging culinary talent. This event marks the first Silent Bistro takeover of its indoor courtyard space, bringing an exciting mix of Asian street food, expertly paired beers, and live music.
Nick Archer and Howard Sellers, the chefs behind Bango Kitchen and The Shellfish Pig, will craft a four-course small plate menu inspired by Asian street food. Their dishes will be complemented by Sharp’s Brewing Company’s curated four-course beer and cider-matched pairings, showcasing their expertise in food and beer harmony. Guests can also expect a unique Sharp’s ‘hoptail’ and enjoy the soulful beats of DJ Atomic Dog, a regular collaborator with both parties.
Meet Bango Kitchen and Sharp’s Brewing Co
Bango Kitchen, recently made it onto Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth’s 5 favourite restaurants in Cornwall shortlist and featured in The Guardian as one of the best coastal eateries in the UK, is known for its dumplings, ramen, Bao Buns, and specials using local produce. For this event, Nick and Howard will create exclusive flavour combinations to perfectly match Sharp’s beers.
Sharp’s Brewing Co, the South West’s largest cask beer producer, has built a reputation for quality and innovation since its beginnings in Rock in 1994. Its flagship beer, Doom Bar, is a nationwide favourite, and the company’s brewing excellence has been recognised with over 150 international awards. Sharp’s continues to inspire new ways to pair beer with food, redefining perceptions of beer as a culinary complement.
What They’re Saying
Nick Archer, Bango Kitchen’s co-founder, shared his excitement:
“We had phenomenal feedback from a beer and food matched journey that we created with Sharp’s at Trebah Garden a couple of years back. And now we’ve settled into our new home within the exceptional Buttermarket in Redruth, we can’t wait to take the place over with our friends at Sharp’s and provide a whole evening of flavourful immersions for our shared guests. It’s going to be utterly brilliant.”
Sam Lyne, Beer Sommelier at Sharp’s Brewing Co, added:
“Both Howard and Nick have the same sort of unending passion for what they create and serve up as our talented, world-class brewers at Sharp’s. When you combine those two elements with a spirit of taste innovation in a four-course menu such as the one we’re all working on for the Buttermarket takeover, you can be sure our guests will be in for a most memorable culinary journey. We can’t wait to be amongst the first to lead with a takeover at Cornwall’s new creative foodie location.”
