Redruth’s Oddfellows Host Successful Coffee Morning Amidst Rainy Weather
Oddfellows Friendly Society members gathered for a cosy coffee morning at Oddfellows Hall on Green Lane, overcoming the dreary weather with warmth and camaraderie.
This event, held recently, saw a significant turnout of members and guests who enjoyed a variety of beverages and homemade treats without any cost, highlighting the society’s commitment to fostering community spirit.
Despite the rainy conditions, the hall was filled with lively conversations and laughter as attendees indulged in coffee, tea, drinking chocolate, and an array of home-baked cakes. This gathering not only provided a delightful opportunity for social interaction but also reinforced Oddfellows’ reputation for offering a rich programme of events and activities to its members in the Plymouth and Truro District.
A highlight of the morning was the book swap club, culminating in a round of applause for Tina English, one of the contributors to the event’s success with her baking skills. Tina, alongside Mandy who assisted her, expressed gratitude to everyone who participated, noting the event’s openness to both members and passers-by as a testament to Oddfellows’ inclusive ethos. Such events are part of the society’s ongoing efforts to organise social activities throughout the year.
The success of the coffee morning has paved the way for another open event scheduled for Saturday, 29th June 2024, which aims to welcome non-members interested in experiencing Oddfellows’ hospitality and possibly joining the society. This initiative reflects Oddfellows’ openness and eagerness to expand its community, welcoming individuals of all ages and genders.
Oddfellows continues to be a pillar in the community, offering a welcoming space for social interaction, support, and mutual aid. With events like the recent coffee morning, the society demonstrates its ongoing dedication to enriching the lives of its members and the broader community.
